In the past months, Istanbul hosted a large-scale drone show. In the show, where exactly 580 drones were used, an exciting light feast was held in the sky. In the event, which was held within the scope of the promotional activities of the new vehicle of the Hyundai brand, a memorable promotional activity was carried out to the people of Istanbul and the audience in front of their screens.

This event, which means the simultaneous and coordinated operation of 580 drones, is not the first trial, but it is one of the biggest events with the participation of such a high number of drones. Shows made by fireworks and special lights projected from the ground to the sky have been the main elements of such events and many entertainment activities until today, but we have been witnessing the use of drones in the show areas more and more recently.
Such shows, which are possible with the development of software that will operate drones in coordination and management applications that enable simultaneous movement, will demonstrate the future of drone technology and what it promises.
Drones that can fly in swarms also raise some concerns, as if they came out of scenes from science fiction movies. The main reason for many concerns is the capacity of these small devices, which move together as if they are soldiers of an army, to carry weapons or explosives, and that the existing defense systems will be insufficient if they make such a swarm attack.
Existing defense systems, anti-aircraft guns, radars, guided missiles, etc., are insufficient against drones. These unmanned aerial vehicles, which are too small to be caught on the radar, reduce the shooting accuracy due to the advantage of their mobility and size, require a reconsideration of the art of war. In addition, most importantly, these unmanned aerial vehicles, which can be sent in droves due to their extremely low cost compared to other weapons and their dispensable nature, also necessitate anti-drone efforts.
As in this light show with the help of a hundred people and 580 drones, it is expressed as a very thought-provoking and frightening scenario that drones, each carrying many weapons and bombs, attack a city in droves. Yes, a team of 100 people had to work for this light show. In the not-too-distant future, it is highly probable that such a large swarm of drones will be controlled with the help of only one pilot and only one computer. In fact, seeing a swarm of drones flying in accordance with their own decisions through artificial intelligence without the need for any pilot is no longer a fantasy or futuristic inference that will only be in movies.
